After thousands of hours cooking on Yoder Smokers, we’ve learned that good food attracts people; great food attracts a crowd!
Lately, we’ve hosted more events at ATBBQ, and our groups keep getting bigger. We’ve fired up the YS1500 to handle the large crowds with ease.
A Grill That Feeds a Crowd
The YS1500 was introduced in 2014 to meet the needs of professional and competition cooks. As it turned out, the additional size coupled with the cooking versatility was perfect for avid cooks cooking for family, friends, neighbors, and more.
The ATBBQ team spends a lot of time cooking on the YS1500. When someone new to the team cooks on it, we always hear a common theme: “I always knew it was a great smoker, but I was really surprised at how well it grills! I could see myself cooking on this at home.”
VERSATILITY BY DESIGN
The YS1500 is also a capable multi-zone cooking machine that can prepare entire meals at the same time. It is a Yoder after all, so it was designed with versatility in mind. This is due to the Yoder Smokers Heat Management System, developed in the Yoder Smokers line of offset smokers.
The system consists of a heavy steel metal plate with a series of holes that get progressively larger as they go from the firebox to the exhaust stack. This provides even smoke infusion and better airflow all the way across the grill, which creates better flavor as well as better looking food.
The Heat Management System also includes an adjustable damper over the firebox that aids in temperature control by exposing or covering the fire. The damper is operated by a pull handle and allows you to do the following:
- Fine-tune the temperature from side to side.
- Speed temperature recovery after the door opens.
- Create a direct, over-the-flame grilling zone.

These factors combine to add an experience that produces incredible pork shoulders and briskets, while also being capable of searing the perfect burger or steak.
