After a couple of conversations with our sales & support team at ATBBQ, Mitch Layton decided it was time to start his Yoder Smokers YS480 Full Upgrade & Restoration project.
Mitch bought his YS480 in 2012. His favorite grill has sat outside on his deck for the last nine years. He decided it was time for a little elbow grease and some TLC. “Needless to say it was looking pretty used up and tired. If this smoker wasn’t such a tank and built so tough, I would have just thrown it away.”
When Mitch began the process of installing the ACS Conversion Kit, he decided he may as well do a full restoration while the grill was taken apart. He degreased the outside of the grill and used a scraper to clean the inside. Mitch then used an orbital sander to lightly scuff the exterior paint. Lastly, he re-caulked the interior and used high heat paint on the exterior.
According to Mitch, "With new parts from ATBBQ and lots of elbow grease, it looks better than new and will perform better. I’m happy with the results!”
